Free Roof Repair Estimates →
Every roof repair job is different. A roofing contractor will need to evaluate the damage before giving a quote for the project. The total cost of the project will depend on the materials required and the amount to time required. In some cases, you may be able to purchase the materials on your own and pay an hourly rate for the roofer's time.
The cost to fix a roof leak depends on:
1. Finding the leak
If the leak is not easy to locate, the contractor may need to spend a good deal of time inspecting your roof. If the repair service charges an hourly rate, you will be responsible for the cost of this inspection.
2. Severity of the leak
Emergency calls are almost always more expensive. Some contractors choose not to work on nights or weekends at all, so the ones that do are able to charge a premium. If it can wait til Monday morning, you may be able to save yourself this additional emergency fee.

3. Materials required to complete the repair
What type of materials are needed? Do you need to replace roof decking? Is there any damage to your attic? If you have a premium roofing material such as slate or metal, the replacement panels are going to be more expensive than a few new asphalt shingles. In some cases, your contractor may recommend replacing your entire roof. Installing a brand new roof can cost thousands of dollars.
4. Your geographic location
Your location can affect the overall cost of the repair. In general, labor costs tend to be higher in metropolitan areas. Moreover, if you live in a very remote area, your costs may be also higher due to the extra time it takes for a contractor to travel to your home.
