Answer: No
Explanation: +17 Power washing a wood shingle roof is generally not recommended due to the risk of damage. The high pressure can damage the wood, potentially leading to splitting, feathering, or even removing the protective outer layer, according to Shake Guys and Rotban. While it can remove dirt and debris, it's a cosmetic treatment that doesn't affect the natural weathering process, and can even accelerate it

Explanation: Is Cedar Roof Pressure Washing Safe? Posted on October 16, 2013 // 6 Comments Cedar Roof Pressure Washing Is Not A Good Idea Cedar roof pressure washing, is it safe? That’s a great question. A cedar roof or wood roof should not be pressure or power washed. It is not a safe practice. This aggressive water pressure on the roof inevitably causes stress and damage to a wood roof and its shingles. The degree of this stress and damage largely has to do with the roofs condition. Commonly when cedar roof pressure washing is performed the person will blow pressure against the wood shingles natural overlap going up the roof. (Instead of downward, in the direction of the overlap.) This can lift, break and or damage wood shingles going against the natural flow and overlap of the roof in addition to degrade the actual shingle grain itself, simply from high pressure. The other reason that people will recommend cedar roof pressure washing, power washing (aka power cleaning) is to treat, seal and or preserve the wood roof. This should never be done!

Superior Pressure Washing
ProMatcher
Answer: No
Explanation: It's generally not necessary to pressure-wash a shingle roof for the purpose of removing ordinary dirt and leaves, and pressure-washing can potentially damage the shingles' coating of protective grit. A light sweeping or a rinse with the garden hose is usually sufficient, and most roofs don't even need that. The noteworthy exception is roofs that have grown algae, mold or moss. These fungal plants don't wash off in the rain like ordinary dirt, but thrive on it, and can become so vigorous that they damage the roof. Our roof cleaning process involves a LOW PRESSURE application of a specialized mix of detergents that prevent -- infestations from returning for much longer periods of time than other methods . We do not use power washers in the process
